NASA Shares High-Resolution Mars Crater Photo
NASA has released a stunning high-resolution image of Mars taken by its Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. The picture was captured using the powerful HiRISE camera and shows a very young impact crater in the Acidalia Planitia region on Mars.
The crater is just over 0.8 kilometres wide, which makes it relatively small. NASA explained that if a house were placed inside the crater, it would still be visible from orbit around Mars.
This new image helps scientists study recent impacts on Mars, understand the planet’s surface changes, and learn more about the processes shaping the Martian landscape. The clarity of the HiRISE camera allows researchers to see fine details of craters, rocks, and terrain like never before.
