Pat Cummins Out of T20 World Cup 2026
Australia’s star fast bowler Pat Cummins will miss the T20 World Cup 2026 due to injury, the International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed on Saturday.
Cummins, who has been struggling with a back injury, also missed Australia’s ongoing T20I series against Pakistan. He had been included in the preliminary World Cup squad in the hope that he might recover in time for the tournament, which begins on February 7.
However, Cummins has not fully recovered, and Cricket Australia has now confirmed that he will not play in the T20 World Cup matches in India and Sri Lanka.
To fill the gap in the squad, left-arm fast bowler Ben Dwarshuis has been named as Cummins’ replacement in the travelling squad. Dwarshuis will join the Australian team for the tournament.
Cricket Australia said that the team management will continue to monitor Cummins’ recovery and hopes he can return to action later in the international season. The team will now prepare for the World Cup without their regular pace spearhead.
