Red Bird Plane Crashes After Engine Glitch
A captain and a trainee pilot were injured after a private training aircraft crashed in Karnataka’s Vijayapura district on Sunday. The aircraft belonged to Red Bird Aviation and reportedly went down due to an engine problem.
The accident took place near Mangalore village during a training flight. Officials said the light aircraft had only two people on board at the time — the captain and the trainee pilot.
According to initial reports, the engine developed a technical glitch while the aircraft was in the air. The pilot tried to handle the situation, but the aircraft lost control and crashed to the ground.
Local residents rushed to the spot after hearing a loud noise. Emergency services were alerted immediately. Both the captain and the trainee pilot suffered injuries in the crash.
They were quickly taken out of the damaged aircraft and shifted to a nearby hospital in an ambulance for treatment. Doctors said they had sustained injuries but were conscious when rescued.
Police and aviation authorities reached the site and began an investigation to find out the exact cause of the accident. The aircraft suffered visible damage due to the impact.
Officials said further details will be known after a technical inspection and inquiry. Training activities may also be reviewed to ensure safety and prevent similar incidents in the future.
