Nadda Urges Patient-Centric AIIMS Reforms
Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare J.P. Nadda has stressed the need to maintain a balanced approach between patient care, medical teaching, and research, with special attention on building a patient-focused healthcare system.
He made these remarks while addressing the Leadership Conclave of Presidents and Executive Directors of the new All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi on Friday.
He called for setting up structured patient feedback systems and taking clear steps to improve patient satisfaction. According to him, listening to patients and acting on their feedback is essential for improving healthcare services.
The Conclave aims to strengthen institutional capacity, encourage collaboration among AIIMS institutions, and build a strong and unified network of AIIMS across the country. The goal is to further improve India’s public health system.
The Health Minister said the new AIIMS institutions should work towards achieving global standards in patient care and medical education, while continuing to follow the values and traditions of the AIIMS system.
He pointed out that the new AIIMS are at different stages of development. Therefore, he stressed the importance of mutual support and structured cooperation so that all institutions can grow together in a coordinated way.
Mr. Nadda also expressed satisfaction that 20 AIIMS have formed a collaborative research consortium to promote coordinated health research aligned with national priorities.
He urged AIIMS institutions to adopt modern technologies, especially the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in diagnostics and clinical decision-making. He also emphasized the need to make telemedicine services a regular and permanent part of AIIMS operations, helping patients access healthcare more easily.
The Minister said these steps will help strengthen India’s healthcare system and ensure better services for patients across the country.
