Five NFR Stations Earn Eat Right Certification

In an important step towards providing safe and hygienic food to passengers, five railway stations under the Northeast Frontier Railway have received the prestigious ‘Eat Right Station’ certification from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).

The stations that received the certification are Dimapur Railway Station, Alipurduar Railway Station, Kokrajhar Railway Station, Golakganj Railway Station and New Mal Junction Railway Station.

Among them, Dimapur Railway Station has been certified for the period from October 24, 2025, to October 23, 2027. The station qualified after meeting the guidelines set by FSSAI.

The certification was awarded after a detailed inspection and audit of food stalls, catering services and food handlers at the stations. Officials checked whether vendors were following strict food safety standards. This included maintaining cleanliness, preparing food in hygienic conditions, storing food safely, managing waste properly and offering healthy and nutritious food options to passengers.

The ‘Eat Right Station’ certification is part of FSSAI’s larger initiative to improve food safety and promote healthy eating habits at public places, especially railway stations where thousands of passengers buy food every day.

Railway officials said the recognition reflects their efforts to improve food quality and passenger services. They added that regular monitoring will continue to ensure that the standards are maintained throughout the certification period.

This achievement is expected to boost passenger confidence and encourage more stations to upgrade their food safety practices in the future.
