West Asia Conflict Escalates with Fresh Attacks
The conflict in West Asia has grown more serious, with Iran and the joint forces of Israel and the United States launching fresh missile and drone attacks. The fighting has spread across several countries, raising fears of a wider regional war.
Iran and Iran-backed militias fired missiles at Israel and also targeted some Gulf countries. In response, Israel and the United States carried out heavy airstrikes on military sites inside Iran. Reports say the strikes hit missile bases, naval ships, weapons storage sites, and other defence facilities. Large explosions were reported in different Iranian cities.
Britain, France, and Germany said they are prepared to support the United States in responding to Iran’s actions. A group of Gulf nations also said they have the right to defend themselves if Iranian attacks continue.
As tensions rise, senior Iranian leader Ali Larijani said that Iran will not hold talks with the United States under current conditions. Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi strongly criticised the US airstrikes that killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. He called the strikes illegal and said Iran’s military response is an act of self-defence.
US President Donald Trump said America would take revenge for the deaths of three US soldiers killed in Kuwait. In a social media message, he claimed that nine Iranian warships were destroyed and that Iran’s naval headquarters suffered major damage. The US military confirmed that B-2 stealth bombers attacked Iran’s ballistic missile facilities using powerful 2,000-pound bombs.
Iran has continued to launch strikes on US-linked targets in Gulf countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Bahrain. These attacks followed the killing of Khamenei and other senior Iranian leaders.
The Israeli Air Force reported new missile launches from Iran aimed at Israeli cities. Iran also claimed that a US F-15 fighter jet crashed in Kuwait during the escalation. Smoke and fire were reportedly seen inside the US Embassy compound in Kuwait after an Iranian strike. The embassy warned that there remains a serious threat of missile and drone attacks.
In Iraq, several loud explosions were heard in Irbil, the capital of the Kurdish region. Residents in many parts of West Asia are living under fear as air raid sirens, missile interceptions, and military movements continue.
With both sides vowing strong responses, the situation remains highly unstable. Many countries are calling for calm and urging diplomatic talks to prevent further escalation and loss of life.
