Palaniswami Counters Criticism Over BJP Alliance Talks
In Chennai, Edappadi K. Palaniswami, the general secretary of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), had been facing criticism from opposition parties for the past few days. The criticism was mainly about his visit to New Delhi, where he met Amit Shah to discuss election alliances.
Many opponents claimed that AIADMK was becoming dependent on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In response to these allegations, Palaniswami tried to clear the doubts on Monday.
He brought together all alliance leaders to the AIADMK headquarters in Chennai. During this meeting, they held detailed discussions and finalised seat-sharing arrangements for the upcoming elections. By doing this openly, he aimed to show that AIADMK is working as an equal partner in the alliance and not under the control of any other party.
The meeting also included leaders from BJP and other alliance partners, including representatives linked to the party’s Tamil Nadu leadership. This move was seen as an effort to present unity among alliance members and to strengthen their position ahead of the elections.
Overall, Palaniswami’s actions were meant to respond to criticism, show transparency in alliance decisions, and build confidence among party workers and voters.
