Congress Flags Diplomatic Setback Over Pakistan Role
The Indian National Congress on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, said that if reports about Pakistan acting as an intermediary between the United States, Israel, and Iran are true, it would be a major setback for India.
The party said such a role for Pakistan would show that it is gaining importance in international diplomacy, especially in a sensitive and high-level conflict. According to Congress, this could weaken India’s position on the global stage, as India has traditionally tried to play a balanced and influential role in international matters.
Congress leaders also pointed out that while India achieved military success during Operation Sindoor, the country has not been equally strong in its diplomatic efforts after that. They said that global influence is not just about military strength, but also about how well a country communicates and builds relationships with other nations.
The party claimed that Pakistan has handled its diplomatic messaging and international image more effectively in recent times. They said Pakistan appears to be engaging actively with major countries and presenting its position more clearly in global discussions.
Criticising the government led by Narendra Modi, Congress said that India’s foreign policy approach needs to be improved. They stressed that strong diplomacy is important to protect national interests and maintain influence in global affairs.
The party also urged the government to take steps to strengthen India’s international presence, improve communication with other countries, and respond more effectively to fast-changing global situations.
Overall, the Congress expressed concern that India could lose its diplomatic advantage if such trends continue, and called for a more balanced approach that combines both military strength and strong foreign policy.
