Jadeja Tops Malinga for Ninth Most Wickets in IPL
Ravindra Jadeja of Rajasthan Royals has become the ninth highest wicket-taker in IPL history by surpassing Lasith Malinga. This achievement came during RR’s opening match against his former team, Chennai Super Kings, on March 31 in Guwahati.
Jadeja took two crucial wickets, dismissing Shivam Dube and Sarfaraz Khan. With this, he reached a total of 172 wickets in 255 matches at an average of 30.26, including a five-wicket haul. This surpassed Malinga’s tally of 170 wickets.
Jadeja began his IPL journey with Rajasthan Royals in 2008, helping them win the title. He later joined Chennai Super Kings in 2012 and played a key role in their victories in 2018, 2021, and 2023 under MS Dhoni’s leadership.
In 2026, Jadeja returned to Rajasthan Royals through a trade deal involving Sam Curran and Sanju Samson. In his first match back with RR, he contributed significantly to their eight-wicket win over CSK.
Jofra Archer and Nandre Burger also performed well with the ball, restricting CSK to 57/6 at one point. The bowlers kept CSK struggling as they reached only 127 in 19.4 overs.
In response, Rajasthan Royals’ batting lineup, led by Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s half-century and Yashasvi Jaiswal’s quickfire innings, comfortably chased down the target with an eight-wicket margin.
