VCK Leader’s Aspirations for Tamil Nadu Assembly

Thol. Thirumavalavan has decided to contest in the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, even though he is currently a Member of Parliament.

He said his main aim is to better represent marginalized and underprivileged people at the state level. He explained that by becoming an MLA, he can raise their issues more directly in the state assembly. He shared this after attending a tea meeting hosted by M. K. Stalin in Chennai.

When asked about the possibility of a by-election in his Chidambaram constituency, Thirumavalavan said he is not the only MP contesting in the Assembly polls. He pointed out that All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam has fielded Rajya Sabha MP C. Ve. Shanmugam, and Indian National Congress has nominated V. Vaithilingam.

Thirumavalavan expressed confidence in his alliance with the DMK and said his party, the VCK, will play an important role in the elections. He added that they are working hard to keep the alliance strong.

He also mentioned that the Bharatiya Janata Party is contesting more seats this time and may get more votes. Because of this, he stressed the need for his alliance to stay united.

Overall, Thirumavalavan said his focus is clear—to serve as an MLA and speak for people whose voices are often not heard in Tamil Nadu.
