Samsung Profit Surges Amid AI Chip Boom
Samsung Electronics is expected to report a huge increase in its profits for the January–March quarter. The company is benefiting from very high demand and rising prices for computer chips, mainly due to the fast growth of artificial intelligence (AI).
Experts say Samsung’s operating profit could grow nearly six times compared to the same period last year. This would be a record for the company in a single quarter and almost as much as what it earned in the entire previous business year.
Samsung has described the current situation as an “unprecedented supercycle” for memory chips. This means there is extremely high demand for chips like DRAM and NAND, which are widely used in AI systems, data centers, and modern electronic devices.
According to estimates by London Stock Exchange Group, based on inputs from 29 analysts, Samsung may report an operating profit of around 40.5 trillion won (about $26.9 billion). The company’s revenue is also expected to rise by about 50% during this period.
The strong growth is mainly driven by increased demand from AI companies and cloud service providers that need powerful chips to run advanced technologies. As more businesses invest in AI, the demand for high-performance memory chips continues to grow.
Overall, this strong performance shows how important semiconductor companies like Samsung have become in the AI-driven world, and how the ongoing chip boom is boosting their earnings.
