Britain and Norway Monitor Russian Submarines in North Atlantic

Britain and Norway have led a month-long operation to track Russian submarines near important undersea cables and pipelines in the North Atlantic. British Defence Secretary John Healey announced this effort, which aimed to monitor potential threats to critical infrastructure.

The Russian Embassy in Britain rejected Healey’s claims as neither credible nor verifiable. They questioned the evidence supporting these allegations. The operation was conducted by Britain and Norway together, focusing on areas where undersea cables and pipelines are located.

Healey emphasized the importance of safeguarding these underwater systems, which are vital for communication and energy supplies. However, the Russian Embassy stated that the claims lacked concrete proof and were therefore not reliable.

This situation highlights ongoing tensions between Western countries and Russia regarding submarine activities in international waters. Both sides continue to express their positions on this sensitive issue.
