The ambush occurred when a military convoy of six vehicles passed near a hotel. The attackers suddenly opened fire, leading to a fierce gunbattle that lasted around 40 minutes. Both sides exchanged heavy gunfire during the clash.

The attackers also targeted military quadcopters, which caused additional losses for the security forces.

Several security personnel were reported killed or injured in the attack. Weapons and equipment were also lost during the incident.
