Ricky Ponting Explains Winning Mindset of PBKS After MI Victory
Punjab Kings (PBKS) head coach Ricky Ponting explained how his team built a winning attitude after defeating Mumbai Indians (MI) by seven wickets in the Indian Premier League (IPL). This was PBKS’ fourth win of the season, with only one match abandoned due to rain.
Ponting highlighted the importance of creating a supportive environment where players feel valued and work together as a team. He mentioned that his role is to guide and challenge the players rather than control them. He also emphasized accepting failure as part of the game.
The coach explained that success in T20 cricket depends on having clear roles and a strong team culture. He praised Prabhsimran Singh and Shashank Singh for their performances, which have contributed to the team’s success.
In the match against MI, PBKS showed a complete performance. MI scored 195/6, with Quinton de Kock scoring an impressive 112 runs. Arshdeep Singh was named Player of the Match for his bowling efforts. In response, PBKS chased down the target quickly, thanks to Prabhsimran’s unbeaten 80 and Shreyas Iyer’s 66.
With this win, PBKS moved to the top of the IPL table, while MI dropped to ninth place.
