Chennai Auto LPG Shortage Causes Long Queues
In Chennai, auto drivers and vehicle owners are facing difficulties due to a shortage of auto liquefied petroleum gas at several retail outlets. In the past few days, long queues have been seen at many fuel stations as people wait for hours to fill their vehicles.
Many private LPG filling stations in the city and nearby areas are either closed or not supplying fuel. At the few stations that still have stock, the price has increased sharply to nearly ₹100 per kilogram, making it very expensive for daily wage workers like auto drivers.
An auto driver, Vijay Karthick, said that the rising price is affecting his daily earnings. He explained that it is becoming difficult to continue work when fuel costs are so high and supply is uncertain.
According to sources in the oil industry, the situation is being seen mainly at outlets run by state-owned oil marketing companies. Stations in areas such as Injambakkam, Kilpauk, Vyasarpadi, and Avadi are among those witnessing heavy crowds and long waiting times.
Officials have not yet given a clear reason for the shortage. However, the disruption has caused concern among auto drivers and other vehicle users who depend on LPG for their daily transport needs.
Many drivers are now worried about rising expenses and unstable fuel supply. They are hoping that the situation will improve soon so that normal services can resume without long delays or high prices.
