Sri Lankan Court Bans Ex-President from Travel in Easter Bombing Probe
A court in Sri Lanka has ordered former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and two former senior military officials not to leave the country as part of an ongoing investigation into the 2019 Easter Sunday bombings. The order was issued by the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court following a request from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), which is continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the deadly attacks.
The investigation focuses on the coordinated suicide bombings that took place on April 21, 2019, Easter Sunday. The attacks targeted churches during religious services and several luxury hotels in different parts of Sri Lanka.
