Ravens Cornerback Nate Wiggins Injured

OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) — Baltimore Ravens cornerback and 2024 first-round draft pick Nate Wiggins was carried off the field during Tuesday’s practice after hurting his left leg. The injury occurred while Wiggins was competing against rookie wide receiver Ja’Kobi Lane in one-on-one drills. He appeared unable to put weight on his leg as he was taken to the team facility.

When asked about how serious the injury might be, first-year head coach Jesse Minter said Wiggins is still being examined. “Not a whole lot,” Minter replied. “I think there’s optimism, but we’ll see where it stands. It’s one of those plays where not much happened between the two players.”

Wiggins’ injury comes after Zay Flowers, a two-time Pro Bowl wide receiver, left practice earlier with a thigh bruise. Flowers returned to limited action Tuesday after missing Sunday’s practice.

In his second season in 2025, Wiggins started all 17 games and had three interceptions. The Ravens selected him 30th overall in the 2024 draft from Clemson. He enters the season as the starting left cornerback and possibly the team’s top defender, even ahead of four-time Pro Bowler Marlon Humphrey, who has taken on a different role.

Despite finishing the 2025 season with one of the NFL’s weakest pass defenses, the Ravens made few changes to their cornerback group this offseason. Minter expressed confidence in his cornerbacks, highlighting Marlon Humphrey, Chidobie Awuzie, T.J. Martin, Keyon Martin, and Chandler Rivers.

Minter also confirmed that quarterback Lamar Jackson and other key players won’t play in Saturday night’s preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles. However, he believes there’s still value in preseason games, as they provide opportunities for players to prove themselves.
