Seth Trimble Joins Louisville for 2026-27 Season

Former North Carolina guard Seth Trimble has decided to join the Louisville Cardinals for the upcoming 2026-27 season. Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 200 pounds, Trimble is a seasoned player who averaged 14.0 points and 3.0 assists per game last year. He left North Carolina due to a crowded roster and will now add his skills to Louisville’s already strong lineup.

Trimble’s ability to play in his fifth college season is still uncertain. A court ruling allowed some players from the 2022 high school class an extra year of eligibility, but the NCAA opposes this decision. Trimble must wait for a higher court to confirm this ruling before he can take the court again.

Despite leaving North Carolina, Trimble remains close to his home state and cherishes his time with the Tar Heels. Over four seasons, he scored 971 points in 126 games, earning recognition as the team’s top defensive player. His standout moments include scoring a career-high 30 points against Louisville and hitting a game-winning three-pointer against Duke.

After college, Trimble played five games in the Las Vegas Summer League with the Washington Wizards, averaging 10.8 points and 4.0 rebounds. Without an NBA contract, he chose to return to school, following a path similar to other players like George Mason’s James Nnaji.

If his eligibility is approved, Trimble will join a Cardinals team already loaded with talent, including transfers Flory Bidunga, Jackson Shelstad, Alvaro Folgueiras, and Karter Knox. Coach Pat Kelsey has built a strong roster with the resources provided by Louisville’s administration.

Trimble’s experience as a high-level player should immediately benefit the Cardinals, making them a strong contender in the ACC for the upcoming season.
