TVK Government’s First 100 Days: A Look at Vijay’s Early Actions

The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government, led by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, has completed its first 100 days in office. The first few months of the government have focused on welfare measures, women’s safety and action against drug-related crimes.

Vijay took charge as Chief Minister on May 10. Soon after assuming office, his government announced and approved three major initiatives aimed at addressing some of the key concerns of people across Tamil Nadu.

One of the first major decisions was a plan to provide 200 units of free electricity every month to eligible domestic consumers. The government said the measure was intended to reduce the financial burden on households, especially families struggling with rising monthly expenses.

The second major initiative was the creation of the Singappen Special Task Force. The force was established with a focus on improving women’s safety and responding to issues affecting women across the state. The government aims to strengthen safety measures and ensure quicker action when women face threats or harassment.

The third initiative was the formation of a statewide Anti-Narcotics Task Force. The special team is responsible for helping authorities fight drug-related crimes and prevent the illegal sale and distribution of narcotic substances.

The government has placed special attention on tackling the availability of drugs, particularly concerns about young people becoming victims of substance abuse. The task force is expected to work with police departments and other agencies to identify drug networks and take action against those involved.

These three early decisions have provided an indication of the government’s priorities during its first 100 days. Welfare support, women’s protection and controlling drug-related activities have emerged as important areas of focus.

The completion of 100 days also gives the government an opportunity to review the progress of its initial decisions. People will be watching how effectively the announced schemes are implemented and whether they reach the intended beneficiaries.

The next phase of the TVK government is expected to bring more attention to development, employment, public services and other issues affecting people across Tamil Nadu.

As the government moves beyond its first 100 days, its performance will increasingly be judged by how successfully it turns its promises and early announcements into practical benefits for the people of the state.
