Arizona Cardinals Extend Michael Wilson’s Contract

The Arizona Cardinals have finalized a three-year contract extension with wide receiver Michael Wilson worth $75 million, keeping him in Arizona through the 2029 season. The deal guarantees $47 million and could reach up to $78 million.

Wilson, who turned 26 this year, still had one season left on his rookie contract before agreeing to the extension. This move ensures Arizona’s young offense remains stable with a key player locked in for several years.

Negotiations between the Cardinals and Wilson were not straightforward. The team made multiple offers over months, and while talks slowed down, they picked up again recently. By Thursday, both sides reached an agreement. Wilson’s agent, Andrew Kessler, handled the discussions.

General manager Monti Ossenfort had expressed uncertainty earlier about extending Wilson but acknowledged his long-term potential. Wilson’s strong second-half performance in 2025, including a career-high 1,006 yards and seven touchdowns, was a key factor in the deal. He became a go-to target after Marvin Harrison Jr. missed time.

Wilson, selected by the Cardinals in the third round of the 2023 draft (No. 94 overall), joins other top receivers from that class—Seattle’s Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Baltimore’s Zay Flowers—who have also achieved 1,000-yard seasons and signed extensions.

Arizona has recently secured several key players, including tight end Trey McBride, while Harrison and rookie running back Jeremiyah Love remain part of the mix. Wilson’s new contract ensures the Cardinals’ passing game remains strong under new head coach Mike LaFleur.

The deal gives Wilson an average annual value close to $25 million, reflecting his performance after a successful first 1,000-yard season. For Arizona, it means one of their most reliable receivers is no longer entering the season as a potential free agent.
