Brandon Graham Retires After 16 Seasons

Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham announced his retirement from the NFL for the second time during a “Breakfast with the Birds” event at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. With this decision, he ends a 16-year career spent entirely with the Philadelphia Eagles, making him the team’s longest-tenured player.

Graham confirmed there would be no return, stating, “I’m officially done.” His first retirement came after the Eagles’ Super Bowl run in 2024, but he returned last October for one final season to help fill the gap left by Za’Darius Smith’s sudden departure. In nine games that year, he recorded three sacks and three quarterback hits.

Graham had hoped for a commitment from the Eagles for a 17th season, but no offer was made. The team’s defense is now led by Jonathan Greenard, Jalyx Hunt, and Nolan Smith. Graham expressed confidence in his replacement, praising Jordan Davis as a future leader of the defense and rooting for quarterback Jalen Hurts to succeed on offense.

Drafted 13th overall by the Eagles in 2010, Graham never played for another team. He holds records for most regular-season games (215) and sacks (79.5) in franchise history. His career highlight came during Super Bowl LII when he stripped Tom Brady of the ball in the final moments, helping the Eagles win their first Lombardi Trophy.

Known for his leadership through rebuilds and championships, Graham is one of the most beloved players in recent Eagles history. He plans to transition into media work and mentoring younger players while focusing on family and spreading positivity.

Though he won’t play again, Graham remains a part of the Eagles’ legacy, with his voice and influence still felt within the organization. The team will move forward without him on the field but continues to carry the standards he helped establish.
