Minister Assures Support for Returning Umrah Pilgrims

Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has assured that the Indian government is taking steps to help Umrah pilgrims and address their concerns. In a social media post, the minister said that the government is actively working to resolve issues faced by pilgrims travelling to Saudi Arabia for the religious journey.

Rijiju stated that all stranded Indian Umrah pilgrims had safely returned to India. He also said that more than 10,000 other Umrah pilgrims had already returned to the country earlier.

The minister highlighted that the government is continuing to monitor the situation and provide assistance wherever necessary. Officials are working to address the concerns of pilgrims and help those who may still need support.

Umrah is an Islamic pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia. Unlike Hajj, it can be performed at different times of the year. Thousands of Indian Muslims travel to Saudi Arabia every year to undertake this pilgrimage.

The government’s announcement is intended to reassure pilgrims and their families that steps are being taken to address travel-related difficulties. Rijiju also emphasised that efforts would continue to ensure that any remaining concerns are handled properly.

The minister’s statement underlines the government’s focus on supporting Indian citizens undertaking religious journeys abroad and helping them return home safely.
