India and South Korea Talk About Military Tech Collaboration

India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh met South Korean Defence Minister Kang Shin-chul in Cebu, Philippines, to discuss ways to strengthen defence cooperation between the two countries. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 13th ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting-Plus (ADMM-Plus) on October 28, 2026.

During the meeting, both leaders reviewed the growing defence partnership between India and South Korea. They discussed opportunities to jointly develop military technologies, improve cooperation between their defence industries and strengthen regional security. The talks highlighted the importance of building stronger partnerships to address changing security challenges.

One of the key areas discussed was the joint development of military technology. By working together, India and South Korea could share knowledge, technical expertise and industrial capabilities to develop advanced defence equipment. Such cooperation could also create opportunities for companies in both countries and support the growth of their defence manufacturing sectors.

The leaders also discussed the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region. This region is strategically important because of its major sea routes, international trade and growing economic connections. Stronger cooperation between countries can help improve maritime security and support regional stability.

The ADMM-Plus meeting provides a platform for ASEAN member countries and their dialogue partners, including India and South Korea, to discuss defence and security issues. It encourages countries to work together on shared challenges and build stronger relationships through regular discussions.

India and South Korea have been expanding their cooperation in defence and other industrial sectors. The latest meeting reflects their interest in exploring new areas of partnership, particularly in military technology and defence production.

The discussions are expected to support continued engagement between the two countries. However, no specific new military technology agreement was announced at the meeting. Both sides will need to continue discussions to identify practical opportunities for future cooperation.
