Vijay Boosts Women Self-Help Groups with Big Credit Push
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay has announced bank-linked credit worth ₹3,000 crore to more than 26,000 members of self-help groups (SHGs) across the state. The initiative aims to support women entrepreneurs, strengthen their businesses, and improve their contribution to Tamil Nadu’s economy.
The programme focuses on providing financial assistance to women who are involved in small businesses and other income-generating activities. Through bank-linked credit, self-help group members can access the funds needed to expand their businesses, purchase equipment, and improve their operations.
The initiative is expected to help women entrepreneurs overcome financial challenges and create new opportunities for business growth. Access to credit can also support women who want to start new businesses but face difficulties in obtaining financial assistance.
Self-help groups have played an important role in promoting financial independence among women in Tamil Nadu. By encouraging savings, supporting small businesses, and improving access to loans, these groups help women become more financially secure.
The government’s latest initiative aims to strengthen these efforts by providing additional financial support to thousands of women across the state.
The programme is expected to encourage women-led businesses, generate employment opportunities, and support local economic development. It also highlights the importance of empowering women through financial assistance and promoting their participation in the state’s economic growth.
