Israeli President Holds Talks After Election

Following Israel’s general election, which reportedly produced no clear winner, President Isaac Herzog has begun discussions with political parties to determine who can form the country’s next government.

The talks began on the first day with smaller political parties, including Religious Zionism, Shas, Yisrael Beytenu, and Zehut. On the second day, Herzog met with additional groups, including United Torah Judaism, Otzma Yehudit, the Democrats, Ra’am, the Joint List, and B’Yachad.

Gadi Eisenkot, representing the Yashar faction, also met with Herzog. The discussions were followed by a meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party.

Herzog is working to bring together different political groups and identify a leader who has the best chance of forming a majority coalition. The process requires understanding each party’s political position and willingness to work with other factions.

These consultations are an important step in Israel’s government formation process. Their outcome could influence the country’s political direction and leadership in the coming months.
