Madras HC Clears ‘Jana Nayagan’ for Release

The Madras High Court has given a major relief to actor Vijay and the team of his upcoming film ‘Jana Nayagan’. According to Live Law, on Friday, January 9, the court ordered the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to immediately issue a U/A certificate for the movie, allowing it to be released.

Justice PT Asha, who passed the order, said that after examining all the materials, it was clear that the complainant’s objection seemed to be an afterthought. The court emphasized that such complaints, if accepted, could set a dangerous precedent.

The judge also criticized the CBFC, saying that the letter sent by its chairperson on January 6 had no legal power and was issued without jurisdiction. This means the CBFC could not legally block the film based on that letter.

This decision brings a big relief to the filmmakers, as it clears the way for the movie’s release and prevents unnecessary delays due to baseless complaints.
