Suniel Shetty Opens Up on Kesari Veer

Actor Suniel Shetty starred in the 2025 film Kesari Veer, which focused on the repeated destruction of the historic Somnath Temple in Gujarat. Despite its strong historical theme, the film failed to attract audiences and was pulled from theatres shortly after its release.

In a recent interview, Shetty spoke openly about why he thinks the movie did not do well commercially. He said that although the story was important and showcased significant historical events, it may not have connected with the audience in the way the makers had hoped.

Shetty also shared his thoughts on the type of historical figures that Hindi cinema continues to focus on. He said that the industry often highlights larger-than-life heroes and popular figures, while lesser-known but equally important personalities and events sometimes do not get the attention they deserve.

The actor added that telling historical stories in a way that appeals to today’s audience is always a challenge, and filmmakers need to strike a balance between accuracy and entertainment.

Despite Kesari Veer not performing well at the box office, Shetty expressed pride in being part of a film that brought attention to an important chapter in Indian history.
