Tom Cruise Honoured With Special Oscar Award

Tom Cruise received an honorary Oscar at the Academy’s 16th Governors
Awards on Sunday night. While accepting the award, he said, “Making films is
not just what I do — it is who I am.” Cruise was one of four film artists
honoured at the event, held at the Ray Dolby Ballroom in Ovation Hollywood
and produced for the seventh time by Jennifer Fox.
Production designer Wynn Thomas and actress–producer–choreographer Debbie
Allen also received honorary Oscars. Dolly Parton was given the Jean Hersholt
Humanitarian Award for her charitable work, although she could not attend the
ceremony.
