India Sets New Standards for Assistive Products
The ICMR and BIS have worked together to set new national rules for
essential assistive products in India.
Their aim was to make these Indian rules match international standards,
such as those from ISO and the WHO Assistive Products List. This will
ensure that assistive devices made, tested, and used in India follow
high-quality and reliable performance levels, just like products used
worldwide.
Assistive products are very important because they help people with
disabilities and older adults improve their independence, movement,
communication, and overall quality of life.
