Quick and Easy Microwave Kanda Poha Recipe

Poha is a popular and healthy breakfast dish enjoyed across India. Different regions have their own versions, but all are nutritious and tasty. This simple recipe shows how to make Kanda Poha (onion poha) quickly using a microwave in just a few minutes.

Ingredients for Microwave Poha:

1 cup flattened rice (poha)

1 tsp mustard seeds

1/2 tsp cumin seeds (optional)

1/2 cup finely chopped onions

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

A pinch of asafoetida (hing)

2–3 green chilies, finely chopped

6 curry leaves

1–2 tsp lemon juice

1/2 tsp sugar

1 tbsp oil

1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves, for garnish

Salt to taste

How to Make Microwave Poha:

Wash the poha thoroughly and drain any extra water. Keep it aside.

In a microwave-safe bowl, add oil, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, green chilies, and curry leaves. Microwave on high for about 2 minutes.

Remove the bowl and add chopped onions, turmeric, and asafoetida. Mix well and microwave for another 2 minutes.

Stir the mixture, then add it to the washed poha. Add sugar and salt. Mix all the ingredients well.

Microwave the combined poha mixture for about 3 minutes on high.

Add lemon juice and mix again. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.
