Raising Awareness About Rare Cancer Sarcoma in India

Cancer awareness is growing in India, especially about common types like breast, lung, and oral cancer. However, there are more than 100 types of cancer, and some of them are still not well known. Sarcoma, a rare type of cancer, is one of these. Most people only learn about it when they or a family member are diagnosed, and then they start searching for information.

I speak from personal experience. I am a two-time cancer survivor. In 2016, I was diagnosed with synovial sarcoma and completed my treatment in 2017. Later, in 2023, I had to undergo an amputation.

Living with sarcoma has greatly affected my life. It has also given me a deep understanding of the challenges that sarcoma patients face—not just physically, but also emotionally, socially, and financially.

This experience has shown me how important it is to raise awareness about rare cancers like sarcoma, so patients and families can get support, knowledge, and timely care.
