Aakarshi Kashyap Enters Orleans Masters Main Draw

At the Orleans Masters 2026, India’s Aakarshi Kashyap qualified for the women’s singles main draw after winning two matches in the qualifying round.

The tournament is being held at the Palais des Sports in France. In her first match, Aakarshi defeated her fellow Indian player Shriyanshi Valishetty in a tough three-game match. The score was 21-19, 17-21, 21-13. She showed good skill and fighting spirit to win the match.

In her second qualifying match, she played against Lee Yu-Hsuan of Chinese Taipei. Aakarshi won in straight games with a score of 21-17, 21-19. With these two wins, she secured her place in the main round of the tournament.

In the next round, Aakarshi will face Yeo Jia Min of Singapore, who is a Commonwealth Games bronze medallist. This will be a challenging match for her.

In the men’s doubles event, Lai Po-Yu and Tsai Fu-Cheng of Chinese Taipei defeated Arjun Reddy Pochana and Achutaditya Rao Doddavarapu with a comfortable score of 21-7, 21-9.

Several other Indian players will begin their matches in the tournament. These include former world No. 1 Kidambi Srikanth, as well as young players Ayush Shetty, Malvika Bansod, Anmol Kharb, and Tanvi Sharma.

However, India’s top doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty have decided to skip the tournament. Two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu and Paris 2024 semi-finalist Lakshya Sen are also not taking part in this event.
