Air India and Air India Express Announce Ticket Refunds for Armed Forces Personnel

Air India and its low-cost carrier, Air India Express, have decided to give full ticket refunds to members of the Indian Armed Forces who cancel or change their travel plans due to official duty. The airlines made this move to support soldiers, sailors, and airmen who serve the country.

Both airlines will now refund ticket money without charging cancellation or change fees if service members need to cancel or reschedule flights because of work-related reasons. This policy applies to personnel from the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, and other defense forces.

To get the refund, armed forces members must book their tickets directly through the Air India or Air India Express websites, booking offices, or authorized travel agents. They must also show valid proof of duty-related travel changes, such as an official letter or duty order.

The airlines introduced this policy to make travel easier for defense personnel, many of whom travel frequently due to sudden duty changes. Air India and Air India Express said they want to respect the dedication and sacrifice of military members and reduce their stress when plans change unexpectedly.

Passengers must request the refund before the flight’s departure. If a soldier cancels the ticket after the flight, the refund may not apply. Family members who travel with the service member may also benefit from the refund in some cases, but they must follow the same steps.

The airline staff will process the refunds quickly after receiving the required documents. Air India has trained its customer service teams to handle these cases with care and urgency.

This move has received praise from several defense groups and travel experts. Many people have welcomed the decision and said it will help thousands of service members who often travel under pressure.

Air India and Air India Express have urged all eligible passengers to read the refund policy carefully and keep duty documents ready when requesting a refund.
