“Amit Shah Announces Major BSF Modernisation Plan”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced today that next year will focus on
improving the Border Security Force (BSF) and supporting BSF personnel.

Speaking at the BSF’s Diamond Jubilee Foundation Day event in Bhuj, Gujarat,
he said the Home Ministry has set a five-year plan to make the BSF one of the
most modern and powerful border forces in the world. He also said the BSF will
play a key role in the government’s new ‘e-Border’ security system.

Mr. Shah praised the BSF for its achievements. He said the force has seized drugs
worth ₹12,95,000 crore in several anti-drug operations. Talking about
anti-insurgency work, he said India will be free from Naxalism by March 31, 2026.
In Chhattisgarh, BSF operations have led to the surrender of 127 Maoists,
the arrest of 73, and the neutralisation of 22 others.

He also spoke strongly about national security, saying that only the people of
India have the right to choose the country’s political leadership. He added that
the government is determined to find and remove every single infiltrator from
India.

Mr. Shah urged the public to support the Election Commission’s Special Intensive
Revision (SIR) of the voter list, calling it an important step to protect the
country’s democracy.

During the event, he released a special postage stamp to mark the BSF’s 60th
anniversary and inspected the parade. He also presented the Gallantry Medal to
Head Constable Sanwala Ram Bishnoi, who received the award posthumously through
his wife, Rukman. Medals and trophies were also given to other BSF personnel for
their brave service to the nation.
