Ashwin Advises Chakaravarthy Before T20 World Cup Final

Former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has given some important advice to Varun Chakaravarthy ahead of the crucial T20 World Cup 2026 final against New Zealand. Ashwin warned Chakaravarthy about bowling from round the wicket to left-handed batters and urged him to improve his game awareness. Chakaravarthy has not performed well in recent matches. In the Super 8 stages and semifinal, he conceded 186 runs while taking only four wickets. In the semifinal against England, he was especially struggling, giving away 64 runs for just one wicket in his four overs. Jacob Bethell of England took full advantage, hitting Chakaravarthy for three sixes in a row during the powerplay and later added more boundaries, making it a tough time for the Indian spinner. Ashwin shared this advice on his YouTube show ‘Ash ki Baat’. He said that bowling from round the wicket to left-handers is not effective and can lead to confidence issues for the bowler. Ashwin also mentioned that Chakaravarthy needs to be more aware of the game and adapt quickly in tough situations. Chakaravarthy’s poor performance has been a concern for the Indian team management. While his teammates have covered up for him with strong fielding, there is still worry about his bowling ahead of the final. Ashwin added that this is a new challenge for Chakaravarthy and emphasized the importance of having good conversations and strategies around him to help him improve. Kuldeep Yadav, another left-arm wrist-spinner, is currently not in the playing XI but might be considered as an option. However, Ashwin feels it’s unlikely that Kuldeep will replace Chakaravarthy for the final. The T20 World Cup 2026 is a highly anticipated event, and fans can stay updated with live action, schedules, points tables, and leaderboards for runs and wickets.
