ASI Starts Online Ticket Booking via ONDC

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has introduced online ticket booking for more than 170 centrally protected monuments and museums through the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC). This step is aimed at making monument visits easier and more convenient for both Indian citizens and foreign tourists.

According to the Ministry of Culture, integrating ASI’s ticketing system with an open digital network allows people to book tickets using different ONDC-enabled apps. This means visitors are no longer limited to a single platform and can choose an app that suits them best. The move also supports greater transparency and efficiency in public services by using interoperable digital systems.

The ministry clarified that all existing ticket benefits will continue. Indian visitors will still receive a ₹5 discount, while foreign tourists will get a ₹50 discount when booking tickets online through ONDC apps.

Another major benefit of online booking is that visitors can avoid long queues at ticket counters. By booking tickets in advance, people can enter monuments and museums faster and enjoy a smoother, hassle-free experience. Overall, this initiative is expected to improve visitor convenience and promote wider use of digital services in heritage tourism.
