Chennai Gets New Rs 3.5-Crore Recreation Hub
Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on Friday opened a new urban recreation hub at the Chennai Metro Rail headquarters in Nandanam, built at a cost of Rs 3.5 crore.
The facility is developed by Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) and covers an area of 3,750 sq metres, including CMRL land and open space land from the Greater Chennai Corporation. It has a Metro Park, badminton courts, and pickleball courts.
Speaking at the inauguration, Udhayanidhi Stalin said the hub will give people safe, inclusive, and eco-friendly public spaces to enjoy in the city.
The hub includes:
Three badminton courts
Two open-air pickleball courts
Outdoor gym
370-metre walking track
Wide pedestrian pathways
Children’s play area
Drinking water points and toilets
Indoor and outdoor seating areas
Parking for cars and two-wheelers
The facility aims to encourage sports, fitness, and recreation for people of all ages in Chennai.
