Chennai Metro Expands with New Underground Link

For the first time in the Phase II project, Chennai Metro Rail will build
an underground line from Panagal Park to Boat Club, going through Nandanam.
This work will happen under the existing Nandanam station from Phase I,
without stopping current train services.

The Nandanam area will have two metro stations — one for Phase I
(Corridor I: Wimco Nagar to Chennai Airport via Nandanam) and another for
Phase II (Corridor 4: Poonamallee to Light House via Nandanam).

The new Phase II tunnel from Panagal Park to Boat Club will be built
under the Phase I tunnel at Nandanam, crossing it at a right angle.
This design will help both metro lines work smoothly together.
