Chennai Metro Phase II 67% Complete
Nearly 67% of the construction work on Chennai Metro Rail’s Phase II line between Koyambedu and the Chennai Trade Centre has been completed. Officials have said that this stretch is expected to open in June this year.
This new section is part of Phase II of the Chennai Metro Rail project. Once it becomes operational, it will improve public transport in the city and make travel easier for commuters.
When train services start on this route, metro connectivity in Chennai will increase further. Koyambedu will become the second interchange station connecting Phase I and Phase II corridors. This means passengers will be able to switch between the two phases at Koyambedu, making travel smoother and more convenient.
The new stretch will help reduce travel time, ease road traffic congestion, and provide better access to important locations, including the Chennai Trade Centre. It is expected to benefit thousands of daily commuters who travel for work, business, and other purposes.
Officials have stated that work is progressing steadily and that efforts are being made to complete the remaining construction on time so that services can begin as scheduled in June.
