Chennai Plans 24-Hour Water Supply Expansion
Chennai Metrowater is moving forward with its plan to provide 24-hour continuous water supply to residents. The agency is now preparing a detailed project report for expanding this system to more areas in Adyar zone under Phase II of the project.
Work has already started in some areas such as Besant Nagar, Adyar, Taramani, and Thiruvanmiyur. These areas are supplied water through the Pallipattu and Thiruvanmiyur distribution stations.
Now, the water board plans to expand the project to cover more parts of the Adyar zone and also extend it to Kodambakkam zone. The aim is to ensure that more households receive a steady and reliable water supply throughout the day.
As part of testing the system, Chennai Metrowater has already carried out a pilot project in one ward in Valasaravakkam. Based on the results of this trial, the agency will improve and expand the system further.
Officials believe that this project will help solve water supply issues, reduce shortages, and provide better service to residents across the city.
