“Clergy Arrested During Immigration Protest at Minnesota Airport”
United States: Police arrested about 100 clergy members who were protesting against President Donald Trump’s stricter immigration enforcement at Minnesota’s largest airport yesterday.
The arrests happened as thousands of people marched through the streets across the state, despite the bitter cold weather, to protest the administration’s immigration crackdown. Demonstrators raised slogans and called for more humane immigration policies.
According to Jeff Lea, spokesperson for the Metropolitan Airports Commission, the clergy members were given misdemeanour citations for trespassing and not following police instructions. After the citations were issued, they were released.
The protests are part of a larger movement involving labour unions, progressive groups, and religious leaders. They are urging people to stay away from work, school, and shopping to show their opposition to the government’s immigration policies.
Organisers say the demonstrations are meant to pressure the administration to change its approach and protect the rights of immigrants.
