CMRS to Inspect Poonamallee–Vadapalani Metro Stretch

Chennai Metro Rail is preparing for the final safety inspection of an important section of its Phase II project. The inspection will be carried out by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) from February 11 to 13.

This safety check is a necessary step before the metro line can be opened to the public. During the inspection, officials will carefully examine the entire stretch between Poonamallee and Vadapalani. They will inspect the railway tracks, stations, signalling systems, electrical equipment, and other technical facilities. They will also test the trains and review emergency safety measures to ensure passengers can travel safely.

The CMRS team will check whether the metro line meets all safety standards and rules. Only after getting official approval can the Chennai Metro start operating services on this route.

If the clearance is given, regular train services are expected to begin within a few days. Metro authorities are making final preparations so that operations can start smoothly without delay.

Once the new stretch opens, it will greatly benefit daily commuters. People travelling between Poonamallee, Vadapalani, and nearby areas will be able to reach their destinations faster and more comfortably. The metro is also expected to reduce traffic congestion on busy roads and provide a reliable and eco-friendly mode of transport.

The opening of this section will mark another major step forward in the expansion of Chennai’s metro network.
