CPI Gets Five Seats in DMK Alliance
In Chennai, the Communist Party of India (CPI) has been allotted five seats by the DMK for the upcoming Assembly elections. The agreement was finalised on Wednesday after three rounds of discussions. CPI state secretary M. Veerapandian signed the seat-sharing deal with Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.
Compared to the 2021 Assembly elections, the CPI has received one seat less this time. However, Veerapandian said that the party is not focused on getting more seats. Instead, their main aim is to fight for democracy and support the rights of poor and marginalised people.
He added that being part of the alliance is important to strengthen their collective voice and work towards common goals. The CPI believes that standing together with like-minded parties will help address public issues more effectively rather than focusing only on seat numbers.
