Customs Seize 10.75 kg Weed at Chennai Airport

After a short gap, customs officials at Chennai International Airport have stopped another drug smuggling attempt. Officers seized 10.75 kilograms of hydroponic weed and arrested two men on Wednesday.

The two accused are from Kerala and were travelling by flight for the first time. According to customs officials, they were tempted into smuggling drugs by the promise of large payments. The smugglers offered them free flight tickets, free accommodation in Bangkok, and money in return for carrying the bags.

Sources said the men were carefully trained before the trip. They were told what to say if questioned and were asked to keep their mobile phones clean, without any messages or information that could create suspicion.

Officials added that the two men were given trolley bags that looked normal from the outside. However, the banned drugs were hidden inside these bags without drawing attention.

The duo arrived in Chennai from Bangkok on a Thai Airways flight early in the morning. When they tried to pass through the customs green channel, officers noticed that they appeared nervous and tense. This raised suspicion among the officials.
