Deepti Sharma Becomes Joint Top T20I Wicket-Taker
Star Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma achieved a major milestone on Friday by becoming the joint highest wicket-taker in women’s T20 Internationals. She reached the mark alongside Australia’s Megan Schutt during the third T20I match against Sri Lanka.
Deepti picked up three wickets for 18 runs in the match, taking her total T20I wickets to 151. She reached this milestone in 131 matches, with an impressive bowling average of 18.73 and a strike rate of 18.43. Megan Schutt also has 151 T20I wickets but reached the figure in eight fewer matches, with an average of 17.70 and a strike rate of 16.57.
Deepti reached the landmark when she dismissed Malsha Shehani in her final over of the match. Her performance played an important role in restricting Sri Lanka’s batting.
With this achievement, Deepti also climbed to third place among the highest wicket-takers in women’s international cricket across all formats. Her total international wicket tally now stands at 333, highlighting her consistency and importance to the Indian team over the years.
