Delhi High Court Seeks CBI Reply In IRCTC Case
The Delhi High Court on Monday (January 5, 2026) asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to file its response to a petition filed by RJD leader and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav. He has challenged a court order that framed charges against him in the alleged IRCTC scam case.
The case relates to alleged irregularities in awarding contracts during his tenure as Union Railway Minister.
Justice Swarna Kanta Sharma, who heard the matter, refused to stop the trial at this stage. The judge said the court cannot stay the proceedings without first examining the response of the CBI.
The court made it clear that it would consider Mr. Yadav’s plea only after hearing the investigating agency’s side. The matter has been posted for further hearing after the CBI submits its reply.
The IRCTC scam case is one of several cases being faced by Mr. Yadav, and the High Court’s decision means that the trial will continue for now.
