DMDK Seeks Cadres’ Views on Alliance

DMDK general secretary Premalatha Vijayakanth on Monday said that the party has begun discussions to decide its alliance for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. As part of this process, she is seeking the opinions of district secretaries from across the State.

Premalatha said the views shared by district secretaries truly represent the feelings and expectations of party workers and cadres at the grassroots level. “The opinion of each district secretary reflects the opinion of that district,” she said, adding that the party believes in a democratic decision-making process.

She explained that DMDK wants to ensure that all sections of the party are heard before taking a final call on alliances. According to her, the leadership will carefully consider the feedback received from district-level leaders before announcing any decision.

Premalatha also made it clear that the party’s full attention is now on the Assembly elections. She said that the issue related to the AIADMK’s promise of a Rajya Sabha seat in 2024 has already been resolved and will not influence the current discussions.

“The Rajya Sabha matter is settled and has been put aside. Our focus is only on the Assembly election,” she said. She added that the party is working to strengthen its organisation and prepare for the polls, keeping the interests of its cadres and supporters in mind.
