DMK Targets Women Voters with New Campaign
Days after giving ₹5,000 to 1.31 crore women beneficiaries, the DMK on Tuesday launched a door-to-door outreach campaign called “Vellum Tamil Pengal” (Victorious Tamil Women) in Chennai. The campaign mainly focuses on women voters across the State.
The initiative is being led by the DMK’s women’s wing. As part of the programme, 10 women party workers have been assigned to each polling booth area. Each team has been instructed to visit at least 20 households every day.
During these visits, the cadres will explain the various welfare schemes introduced by the DMK government, especially those aimed at supporting women. They will also highlight the recent ₹5,000 financial assistance provided to eligible women beneficiaries. Along with spreading awareness about government schemes, they will request voters to support the party in the upcoming elections.
Party leaders said the campaign is designed to directly connect with women at the grassroots level. By meeting families in person, the DMK aims to strengthen its support base and address any concerns people may have about government programmes.
The outreach drive is expected to continue in phases, covering urban as well as rural areas. Party officials believe that direct interaction will help build trust and improve communication between the government and the public.
