England Beat New Zealand in Super 8
In the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, England cricket team defeated New Zealand cricket team by four wickets in a Super 8 Group 2 match. The game was played at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo last night.
New Zealand batted first after winning the toss and chose to set a target. They scored 159 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their 20 overs. Glenn Phillips played an important innings of 39 runs from 28 balls, while Tim Seifert added 35 runs. For England, Adil Rashid, Will Jacks, and Rehan Ahmed took two wickets each to control the scoring.
Chasing 160 runs to win, England reached the target by scoring 161 for six in 19.3 overs. Tom Banton was the top scorer for England with 33 runs. Will Jacks remained unbeaten on 32 runs and helped guide his team to victory. For New Zealand, Rachin Ravindra took three wickets and tried to keep his team in the match.
In another Super 8 Group 2 match today, Pakistan cricket team will take on Sri Lanka cricket team at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 pm local time.
Earlier, India national cricket team defeated Zimbabwe national cricket team by 72 runs in an important Super Eight match held in Chennai on Thursday. The win strengthened India’s position in the tournament.
