EPS Slams DMK Over Student Drug Case
Chennai: AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) and Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) founder T.T.V. Dhinakaran have criticised the DMK government after reports said that a Class XI student from a government school in Chennai was found carrying ganja.
The incident has raised concerns about student safety and the growing problem of drugs among young people. Both leaders said the case shows a failure in the state government’s administration and law enforcement.
In a post on social media, EPS said it was shocking that a school student was involved in such an issue. He blamed the DMK government for not taking strong action to control the sale and spread of drugs in the state. He said that during the previous AIADMK government, students were provided with laptops to support their education and learning. But now, he claimed, students are being exposed to drugs instead of focusing on their studies.
“This is a disgrace,” he said, adding that the government must take responsibility and ensure that schools remain safe places for children.
Dhinakaran also criticised the government, saying stricter steps are needed to prevent drugs from reaching students. He urged the authorities to increase monitoring around schools and take strong action against those who sell narcotics.
The incident has once again sparked a political debate in the state, with opposition parties demanding better control over drug-related activities and stronger measures to protect young people.
